Daniel Georges

Dan's experience in law started in 2001, when he worked as a law clerk and paralegal for Sydney Cove Law Group under the then three principals, Chris Finn, Michael Michell and Andrew Ford. Thereafter, Dan joined and worked for Finn Roache exclusively for its large and diverse portfolio of clients.

Dan has degrees in laws and marketing and was admitted to practice in 2006. Like his mentor, Chris Finn, he is passionate about raising the community's awareness of intellectual property, its protection and exploitation. He advises clients from an array of industries and professions on trade marks, copyright and design issues. At the time of writing, Dan has completed the Graduate Certificate in Trade Mark Law at the University of Technology, Sydney and will qualify to become a Trade Mark Attorney. Dan is also completing his Masters in Law in the areas of Information Technology and Intellectual Property.

In the relatively short time since law school, Dan has gained considerable experience in commercial litigation and is an essential and necessary adjunct to the firm's commercial practice. He also has experience in property law and the buying and selling of businesses. He works in close association with the firm’s principal and supervises other professional staff.

Dan has had carriage of matters and/or represents clients in the Federal, Supreme, District and Local Courts in:

• Trade mark infringement;
• Copyright infringement;
• Contractual matters;
• Unpaid commission payments;
• Franchising disputes;
• Claims against an deceased estate;
• Retail leasing disputes;
• Creditors statutory demands;
• Debt recovery;
• Breach of licence agreements;
• Claims of misleading and deceptive conduct and other provisions of the Trade Practices Act.

In tribunals, Dan has represented clients in the following:

• Retail leasing disputes;
• Unfair dismissals; and
• General contractual claims.
